Celebrities dressed in nines descended on Venice’s Lido this week to attend the 79th installment of the city’s annual film festival. The star-studded event will include the premiere of “White Noise” and Olivia Wilde’s sensational “Don’t Worry Darling” starring Harry Styles and Florence Pugh. As “Blonde” — Netflix’s Marilyn Monroe biopic with Ana de Armas — is scheduled for 11 days.

Running from August 31st to September 10th, the festival is the oldest of its kind, founded in 1932, and the most visually appealing thanks to the romantic backdrop of the floating city. It’s one of those things. Paparazzi shots of guests arriving by private water taxi conjure up images of old-time Hollywood glamour, and so far, the red carpet moment has followed suit. There’s no shortage of high-energy outfits, from dainty Valentino capes to model Mariacarla Boscono’s skimpy Jean Paul Gaultier gowns.
