The committee signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the university for joint cooperation to develop the Kingdom’s fashion sector using technology and scientific research, and to empower university students and local talent in the textile sector.
Saudi Arabia’s Fashion Commission recently agreed with the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology to establish a local research center within the university’s research and technology department to explore the possibility of innovating sustainable solutions for textiles and fashion. The agreement covers the development and implementation of entrepreneurial programs, the localization of relevant skills, and the potential for research and innovation efforts in materials, fashion and textiles, the kingdom’s media reports said.
The MoU includes the possibility for the Commission to provide resources and logistical support to boost emerging technologies for small businesses, sustainable technology, smart textiles and technical wear for local and international companies. .
There is also scope for cooperation to provide training and employment opportunities for Saudi youth in the field of fashion, as well as cooperation between the commission and universities to provide cooperation opportunities for university students in this field.
